I attended Sean Carroll's lecture, "The Making of the Fittest", at KSU last night. Hopefully, I'll have a review posted by tomorrow sometime.
From what I gathered from Carroll's speech, the science community "won't back down" in any way, shape or form on the matter of macroevolution being declared a scientific "fact". He even ended his lecture with a little slideshow featuring Tom Petty's "I won't back down" playing in the background.
He's certainly declared war on ID, but it seems to me his reason for war is quite misplaced. I had a hard time most of the night trying to figure out whether he was arguing for macroevolution or Intelligent Design.
