Be thankful that you evolved along the more preferable branch of ape like creatures

Well, at least we can be thankful that we've evolved far enough along that we no longer eat dirt.

But then, in comparison to what some of us live off of, perhaps dirt would be the better option...

Yes, this post is completely irrelevant to anything other than the fact that *I'm hungry*. I read that article about the dirt eaters and started envisioning all the yummy things that we humans get to enjoy.

Sigh...

I was doing so well with my dieting toward the beginning of the week (had lost 3 pounds), but yesterday I didn't get on that treadmill, and I ate two burritos and a *big* 'ol bowl of popcorn after 7PM. This morning I got on the scale and I've gained 2 of those pounds back.

Ugh...

[edit: whoops! My link above didn't work...I fixed it. Note the reason why I said that we may be better off eating dirt than a grease burger and fries...dirt is actually good for the chimps.

In related news...when my kids were little, I never washed their pacifiers when they fell to the floor. Neither did I use bacterial soaps etc. that so many parents are fond of these days. I figured they needed to deal with bacteria and build their immune systems. Scientific or not, my kids were *rarely* ill when they were young.]

Blog Diets

I was watching the Early Show this morning, and they were talking about blog diets and how well they work. I know it was much easier for me to lose weight during the blog diet that took place here during the first 5 months of the year rather than just working at it on my own.

I'm hoping to start one up again Jan. 1. I know my sister is interested, and Kristine (Amused Muse) said she might join us.

Kristine, my sister and I are all in our early forties, so we are primarily interested in eating healthy rather than starving ourselves to get the weight off. A healthy lifestyle is much more important than looking good (or so they say).

Anywhoo...I'd love for people to join us. I know most of my readers are Darwinists, and the IDers who read my blog are probably worried about what the crazy soccer Mom gone activist is going to say next, so I'm not sure if I can get anyone to join us due to that fact. But, I thought it would be fun to invite anyone who is interested regardless of your thoughts about evolution, ID, religion, the culture war, etc., etc.

Bloggers are especially encouraged to join, because I think some of us spend far to much time sitting on our butts at our laptops when we should be out jogging!

We've completed week seven, with our total weight loss at 55 lbs..

Valentine's week did me in. I got carried away with chocolate, wine, and pizza. I didn't lose a pound, but at least I didn't gain anything either. I really need to get serious again this week. Hopefully, the rest of you did better than I did.

Dieters, please use the comment section to post how much you lost (or gained) this week, and your ~total~ weight loss since day 1 of dieting. When everyone has done so, I’ll post the results.

Last week, Davescot provided tips about the benefits of green tea and dieting, so we'll see if anyone took him up on his advise.

Okay, Dave's along for the ride so that brings our total weight loss up to 55 pounds!! But, it looks like some of us need extra motivation this week.

Chunky Monkey is looking into the dieting benefits of eating cereal for a meal.
